The Afghanistan War is too costly and not winnable. Selected Articles cross posted from Carol C.
Submitted by Steering.Jim on Wed, 08/04/2010 - 00:15I have Afghanistan on my mind a lot lately. I read what our contemporary progressive writers and speakers are saying and wonder what it will take to stop the endless war. Here's a selection of articles on Afghanistan from Commondreams. I pasted representative text under each link. I share it with you in hopes you will share it with others. ~ Carol C.
“The Afghanistan War is too costly to continue. ~Phyllis Bennis
http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/08/03-2
The WikiLeaks documents provide a treasure trove of evidence--of what we already knew. This war has already failed. Every death, of civilian and soldier, is needless. The cost of this occupation and this war--in Afghan blood, in U.S. and NATO military blood, in billions of dollars needed for jobs at home and real reconstruction in Afghanistan and elsewhere--is too high.
We need to stop the funding now, bring the troops and contractors home, support regional diplomacy, and begin the long effort of repaying our huge debt to the people of Afghanistan and Iraq.”
Thanks to WikiLeaker, Afghan War Will End Soon ~ Ted Rall

Sign up for Supreme Challenge 2010
Submitted by Steering.Jim on Sun, 07/18/2010 - 23:35The MDP Justice Caucus is once again looking for donors and volunteers to help take back Michigan's Court System. Last election the incumbent "sleeping" justice Cliff Taylor was defeated. This year we need to defeat Bob Young and Elizabeth Weaver. To help educate the voters on the importance of voting the non-partisan section of their ballot. Please sign up at www.justice4michigan.org.
Thanks for your help in advance.

A lesson on Economics and Politics:
Submitted by Steering.Jim on Sun, 07/18/2010 - 23:31From Carol C: I love moments when you discover a new writer and thinker (to me) who writes captivating prose to stimulate thought and action. And, in that moment, I am reminded that none of us knows everything and we have an opportunity to grow if someone will be so kind as to share a new thought with us.
So, I share this with you. It is well worth the time it will take.

Solid risk assessment that by-passes belief. Pass it on.

You cannot solve a problem with the thinking that created it. When enough people change their minds, the world will change.
Please pass it on to your address books! Thanks!
