The 2008 Spirit of Millie Jeffrey Awards will be given to

Rosa Holliday of Bay City
As a recording and corresponding secretary for the Michigan Democratic Party. She retired from GM and currently is director of programs & public relations
at Latoya's Health Education Training Center. Rosa is active in Democratic politics from the precinct level to the National Convention Delegate. She is a trustee of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw.

Ann Kerwin of Detroit is a member of the 14th Congressional District. She is active on zoning issues for the University District Association and is an active member of the Sierra Club. Ann is the Chair of the Irish Cultural Forum, active in Catholics for the Common Good, and is a member of the Southeast MI Beekepers Association. She has worked quietly beside her spouse Mike Kerwin for 53 years on numerous Democratic activiites.

Christy McGillvry of Mt Clemens and Daughter of our very own Mike McGillvry lives in Mt Clemens and is a Senior Organizer with Clean Water Action. She began canvassing for Clean Water Action in 2004 and raised at least $775 per week from door to door canvassing for the organization in a year and a half. The work she does is on the state and local level on behalf of citizens. Clean Water Action acts as a watchdog agency, reviewing the actions of lawmakers on environmental issuess.
